April is traditionally our read-a-thon month at Team Read, and this year is no exception. Student readers across the city are setting reading goals for the month, adding up all the minutes they read at home, at school and at Team Read and competing for fun reading prizes.

This year, The Seattle Mariners are pitching in to encourage our readers. Seattle’s own baseball team is donating vouchers for free game tickets to all Seattle Team Read students who achieve their reading goals this month. Reading coaches are also eligible for the vouchers, and they will set their own goals.

“The Mariners are proud to partner with Seattle Public Schools to help celebrate student achievement. Through the Junior Mariners Student Rewards program we can help encourage kids to focus on important educational outcomes and have a fun time at the ballpark,” said Joe Chard, Vice President for Community Relations and Corporate Business for the Seattle Mariners.

The site with the most minutes read at the end of the month will win a cake party. Stay tuned as we announce the winner on social media in early May.
