More Students and Coaches will be Reading this Summer!

Thanks to a $60,000 grant from the City of Seattle Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL), Team Read will partner with Seattle Public School’s Summer Staircase program to provide a full-day experience for more than 120 students at Martin Luther King Elementary (up from 20 last year). After a morning in the classroom, Team Read students will transition to one-on-one reading tutoring with their teen coaches, and also participate in exciting enrichment activities in science, art, and more.

And Team Read students and coaches will be reading together throughout Seattle as we continue to partner with Douglass-Truth Library, New Holly Library, Rainier Beach Library, and South Park Community Center.

Team Read’s impact on young readers in Highline continues to grow rapidly. Our partnership with the district expanded to two school locations and 30 students will participate in the Highline summer program.  Happy reading this summer!
